Scope of Genetics in India:

A career in genetics in India is a boon for the aspirants belonging to Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and related areas. The job of genetics engineers is very interesting and requires deep concentration levels. Genetic engineers shuffle the order of DNA in sequence by using various artificial techniques. They examine the nature and behaviour of DNA in the living organism. Genetic engineers often work in the laboratory all day and extract the DNA out from the organism, change the order of the gene and put it back into it to arrive at conclusions and scientific findings.

Education Qualification to Become a Genetic Engineer:

Since, the field of genetic engineering is highly research oriented; you may consider pursuing a doctoral degree for research independently. Though, a Bachelors or Master’s degree in genetic engineering is also good, but the career in genetics engineering is mostly limited to being a research assistant or a lab manager. Without a Ph.D in Genetics Engineering, you can neither lead a team of researchers nor establish your own laboratory.
