All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) conducts the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) as an entrance test for admission to MBA colleges and colleges offering postgraduate diploma in management programmes.

On the special request of few State Governments, AICTE decided to conduct an additional online CMAT examination in May 2013 for admission for the academic year 2013-2014 in order to facilitate those candidates who could not appear in the earlier CMAT due to late notification issued by few State Governments.

Only those candidates who could not avail two opportunities for appearing in CMAT during the year 2013-2014, would be allowed to appear in the CMAT (Additional Test) scheduled in 57 cities from 19th May to 22nd May, 2013.

As per CMAT policy, the candidates can make maximum two attempts in CMAT for admissions for a given academic year and better of the two scores will be used for admission.

From this year onwards, AICTE has made CMAT the only gateway to MBA admissions under government quota. Previously, it was the State-administered Postgraduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET).

The decision to have an additional test in May was taken in wake of the poor registration response from students, who were expecting the announcement of PGCET dates for admission to MBA.

More than 4000+ AICTE approved B-Schools will accept the CMAT 2013 test scores.

• Punjab Technical University Jalandhar
