Delhi University MA admission is an elaborate process involving two well-defined intake modes namely Direct and Entrance. In the former arrangement, 50 percent of seats are reserved for the Delhi University students and enrolments are done directly with due reference to the candidate’s academic performance. If you are not a student of DU, going by the Entrance route becomes essential. Herein, you are supposed to sit for an entrance exam and upon qualification, have to get past the interview and Group Discussion session. However, the interview is not required for all streams, except programmes like MA German, MA Hispanics, MA Italian and MA French.
It is worth mentioning that the online registration is essential, regardless of the mode of enrolment you prefer. You are at liberty to apply for any of the intake modes - Merit only, Entrance only, or Merit and Entrance – at the time of the registration. When seeking Delhi University MA admission via Entrance mode, your Admit Card will be accessible through the online registration account. You have to take a printout of the filled-in application form while ensuring that the quality of the photograph is decent enough to facilitate easy verifications. For your convenience, the admit card carries all the exam related essential information, such as the name of the centre, reporting time and so forth.
Besides hall ticket, you are also supposed to carry a document for establishing your identity, which can be a valid Driving License, Pan Card, Passport or Aadhaar Card. The intake exam will last for two hours wherein you need to answer a set of Multiple Choice Questions by marking appropriate answers on the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet. However, the exam pattern may vary in Delhi University MA admission for select foreign language programmes where short answer questions are the norm. Usually, DU conducts the intake exam at six centres across the country, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Jammu, Nagpur, Varanasi and Kolkata.
