Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the exam dates for the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2013, which will be conducted in June 2013. The Engineering Services Examination will be held on Friday, June 28, 2013 (3 days).

ESE is a combined competitive examination which is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to the services/posts of Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria:

• A degree in Engineering from a recognized university or equivalent is required for appearing the exam.
• M.Sc degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communications, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as special subjects also acceptable for certain services/posts only.
• Candidates appearing at their Engineering degree or equivalent examination are also eligible to compete.
• Candidates qualifying on the result of the written part of the examination will be required to submit the proof of passing the requisite examination along with their detailed application form to be filled up at that stage.

Paper pattern:

The written exam comprises of 2 sections. Section I consists of only objective type questions and section II comprises conventional papers. Both the papers will cover entire syllabus of the relevant engineering disciplines.

Part A: General English. The question paper in General English will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding of English and workmanlike use of words.

Part B: General Studies: The paper in General Studies will include knowledge of current events and of such matters as of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The paper will also include questions on History of India and Geography of a nature which candidates should be able to answer without special study.

• Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering
