The Delhi University (DU) has declared the much-awaited first cut-off list for admission to its various undergraduate programmes for the academic year 2013-14.
While the wait for the list was long and nerve-racking, the frenzy surrounding admissions was surprisingly missing from most colleges on Thursday.
The first day of admissions at the University witnessed a lukewarm response from students.
"It is just the first day of admission and students still try and get a sense of what the cut-offs are and what colleges they want to go and apply to. The first day is usually spent doing recce by both parents and students. As per trend, more students come in for admissions on the second and third days," a senior DU official said.
Some colleges, however, did see a sizeable number of students queuing up for admissions on the first day.
Most other colleges are expecting students to come for admissions by Friday and Saturday.
Rajendra Prasad, principal, Ramjas College, said: "If we keep in mind the high cut-offs that we declared this year, the response was satisfactory. But it was certainly not as good as last year.”
While Commerce and Computer Science saw the maximum number of admissions, other courses such as Economics, English and Journalism witnessed a cold response.
