The University of Delhi may cancel the Common Aptitude Test for English (CATE 2013) exam which is conducted for admission to the BA English (Hons) course.
Instead, the University is planning to provide admissions to the programme on the basis of Class XII marks.
DU implemented CATE as a centralised test to check and evaluate a student's aptitude for studying an English course like BA English (Hons) course, reports a leading daily.
However, the entrance exam CATE is said to have been put on hold this year due to the introduction of the four year undergraduate degree courses.
As part of the four-year degree programme, DU aspirants will have the liberty to apply in any college as long as they meet the eligibility criterion.
Once the cut-offs are announced, students can apply in colleges where they meet the required cut-off.
Instead of choosing colleges during the pre-admission registration process, the candidates will now just be required to mention their marks and indicate their choice of courses.
