Jittery feeling, a constant rush in the stomach, nervousness, and anxiety is what a person a day away from taking an MBA Entrance Exam goes through. In just one day before the main exam, revisions, a discovery of new topics and topics that have been left out appear all at once. At this point of time, a student needs to sit back, relax and not think about everything that has been left behind, but look forward to what he/she has already prepared. The best way to analyze this situation is to do a quick SWOT analysis.

Whether you are taking CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT or any other MBA entrance exam, it is but necessary to do a SWOT analysis of your preparation to get a slight idea of how well you can do. Do not worry realizing that a lot more is left in the syllabus to prepare. The syllabus is a reservoir, accept the fact that you cannot learn and practice everything necessary for the exam.

Time management during your last day of preparation is very important in crucial exams like CAT 2020. Do not waste time in over thinking about your exam next day. Just remember you have studied enough and you cannot grasp everything in one day. Therefore, just relax and concentrate on revising the basics. Stress can be harmful, try to overcome it by indulging yourself into other activities.

We give you a low down of the Dos and Don’ts to keep in mind a day before your MBA entrance exam-

Dos

  1. Brush up basics- You have been preparing for your MBA entrance exam for a while, now is the time to revise what you have learnt so far. You need to brush up all the basics like vocabulary & grammar rules and formulas of the topics that have already been covered. This last minute revision will help you identify the method of solving the given question in the paper.

  2. Revise, do not learn- Remember that taking up new things to learn just a day before the exam might backfire your preparation. You will forget what you have already learnt. Revise whatever that you have been preparing all this while; take a quick look at the syllabus, solve a few questions and finish the revision part. Do not take a whole day to cover all the topics; pick up some major ones that you think are important.
  3. Keep flashcards handy- For English section, it is always good to keep flashcards handy. It is important to take out some time to revise and brush up your vocabulary. Vocabulary is a tough section to crack. Therefore, revise all the words with the help of these flashcards, so that they are readily present in the active memory of your mind.
  4. Keep all the documents ready- There are certain documents that are needed at the time of entering the exam centre, which include admit card, photo identity proof (PAN Card, Voter ID card, Passport, Aadhar Card, etc.), remember not to keep this task for the day of the exam.
  5. Make this day stress-free- It is okay to study for 3-4 hours the day before your MBA entrance exam. However, it is equally important to let yourself free; go out and have some good time with your friends. Do not stress over it repeatedly. The more stressed you are, higher the chances of goofing up the things in the exam. Do not revise at night, rather get a good sleep and make sure you sleep early without letting yourself under pressure.

Don’ts

  1. Do not practice mock-tests- Practising
  2. mock tests or sample tests one day before your MBA entrance exam will not ensure good marks. Rather, it can affect your confidence in case you do not fare well in the test. Avoid any lengthy mock tests that will take up most of your time. Therefore, do not waste your energy on solving these sample tests.
  3. Do not start a new topic- Starting a new topic will lead to wastage of time and energy. Best is to revise topics that have already been covered. Learning a completely new topic might create confusion and stress, leading to poor performance.
  4. Do not study late at night- Make sure that you sleep early the night before your MBA entrance exam so that you wake up fresh and prepared for the big day. Studying late at night will only lead to taking excessive pressure and anxiety. Time management is the key to giving a stress free exam.
  5. Do not revise repeatedly- You must give yourself a few hours to revise basics and formulas and give yourself a break. While you are revising, do a quick SWOT analysis on yourself and your preparation. It helps boost your confidence. Your anxiety will force you to open your syllabus repeatedly, but you will need to stop yourself.

During the exam day, go to the exam centre with a positive outlook, be confident and give your best shot. Remember, this is not the end of the world.
