Eligibility criteria to Progressive Educational Society to prepare for IIT entrance exams

Progressive Educational Society, (Guru Nanak Dev University) in Punjab invites applications for the admission of 10+2 classes especially for candidates from rural areas.

Indian Institutes of Technologies (IITs) are the premier institutes of education and training in the country. Getting admission in IITs is a dream of many hundred thousands of students in India. Some have devoted their whole childhood in preparation to crack the entrance for these institutes. But this is bit different for the students from rural areas. Despite being intelligent some can’t manage to made it due to their economic conditions.

Keeping in view the poor condition of rural students, Govt. of Punjab has decided to select seventy students from rural area through an entrance test. The selected students are provided free specialized education for 10+2 classes (total 2 years). They are also provided free lodging, boarding, books, study material, stationary and all other requisite facilities. They will be provided daily special training by experts in the evening, preparing them simultaneously for IIT entrance test.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Should have passed Matriculation in 2013 with at least 60% marks or CGPA of 6.32 out of 10 (in case of CBSE) from a school in Punjab or Chandigarh.

• Should be residing in a rural area as evidenced by name of parents in the voter list/ Photocopy of voter ID Card.

• Annual income of parents should be less than Rs. 4.0 lakh.from all sources.
Candidates can download the application from GNDU website www.gndu.ac.in

Rural Area Certificate, Punjab Domicile Certificate and Income Certificate will have to be produced at the time of counseling by the candidates who qualify in the entrance test.

Important dates for admission to Progressive Educational Society:

• Last Date of submission of forms May 17, 2013

• Date of Entrance Test May 26, 2013

• Declaration of Result May 28, 2013

• Verification of certificates and counseling May 30, 2013

• Orientation and start of classes June 4, 2013

Entrance test syllabus will cover 10th class of Punjab School Education Board (Science and Mathematics).

Interested candidates are requested to submit their candidature along with entrance exam fee of Rs. 500/- in the form of DD drawn in favour of “Progressive Educational Society, Amritsar, payable at Amritsar”
