Graduate Record Exam, popularly known as GRE, is one of the popular exams that is taken by the students who aspire to pursue higher education in foreign universities. The exam is conducted by Educational Testing Services (ETS) and has been developed to assess verbal, analytical and mathematical skills of the candidates. It is mandatory exam for individuals who are willing to apply in graduate schools of different foreign universities in order to pursue Masters in Arts (MA) or Masters in Science (MS). GRE is a computer based exam, scores of which are accepted in the Universities of USA and Canada along with several technical institutes across the globe.
GRE exam is of two types, namely GRE General Test and GRE Subject Test and each of them has a varying GRE syllabus.
GRE General Test: Verbal reasoning, quantitative ability and analytical writing skills of the candidates are assessed in this test. The score of this test is accepted by majority of the Universities and the exam is held all round the year. Students can select the date of the exam as per their convenience.
GRE Subject Test: Through this test, the candidate’s achievement in a particular subject matter is assessed. This test is necessary for specialized courses such as Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Literature (English), Physics and Psychology. The exam is held on a particular date all over the world.
