You should have taken Physics, Chemistry, Maths at the 10+@ level. Then pursue a degree or diploma programme in aeronautical engineering. If a conventional college does not work out for you, go for the Aeronautical Society of India’s (ASI) Associate Membership Examination that is conducted every 6 months. This will lead to a qualification equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering.

An assistant engineer in a public sector aircraft manufacturer earns Rs 20,000-30,000 a month. In the private sector, an engineer fresh from college would make Rs 20,000-25,000 per month. Depending on your performance, salaries can increase.
