IIM Visakhapatnam Admission Criteria 2020 – 20 - IIM Visakhapatnam has officially made announcement of its admission criteria for the candidates who are seeking admission to post graduate programs in management for 2020 – 20 batch. There are three admission stages in IIM Visakhapatnam. In the first stage, the candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of sectional as well as aggregate CAT 2020 percentile. Further, the candidates will also be shortlisted on the basis of CAT 2020 score, their previous academic records, gender diversity and work experience. IIM Visakhapatnam admission process 2020-20 will further follow a written ability test and personal interview. The candidates will be asked to submit an application mentioning the past academic certificates, statement of purpose, reservation category status (if from reserved category), work experience etc. IIM Visakhapatnam will assign the candidates weights on calculation of final scores, which will include all the factors mentioned above. Finally, the admission will be offered to the candidates based on his/her rank in every category as per the final aggregate score as IIM Visakhapatnam admission criteria 2020 – 20. IIM Visakhapatnam Admission Criteria 2020-20 – Stage 1

The first stage of IIM Visakhapatnam admission process 2020 is applicable for for all the eligible candidates who have appeared for CAT 2020 and have applied for IIM Visakhapatnam to determine those qualifying candidates who will be called to reconfirm their interest for admission to PGP 2020 – 20 of IIM Visakhapatnam. The candidates who have obtained a positive raw score in all of the sections of CAT 2020 exam will be considered. Alone CAT 2020 score is used to as the basis of reaching to the first stage of IIM Visakhapatnam admission 2020.

In the first stage of IIM Visakhapatnam admission norms 2020-20, candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of CAT 2020 percentile. IIM Visakhapatnam will only select those candidates whose percentile satisfies the sectional and overall CAT cutoffs for the next stages of admission. All the candidates who are shortlisted in the first stage of IIM Visakhapatnam selection process 2020-20 will be sent an e – mail in the 3^rd week of April 2020. IIM Visakhapatnam Selection Process 2020- Stage 2

Candidates, who have cleared first stage of IIM Visakhapatnam selection procedure 2020, will have to pass through the second round of IIM Visakhapatnam admission process 2020. At this stage, IIM Visakhapatnam will shortlist the candidates on the basis of their part academic records, gender diversity and the work experience. The table given below contains factors and weightages given to the students as per IIM Visakhapatnam admission guidelines 2020-20.

Based on the weightage of CAT 2020, work experience, gender diversity and past academic performance, IIM Visakhapatnam will prepare lists which will shortlist the candidates for written ability test and personal interview.

Standardization or normalization formula which will be used for all the shortlisted candidates will be as follows

Max [0, min {wt, wt/2 + ((val-mean)/ sd) * wt/6}]

The score for work experience of any candidate will be counted using the following formula

Score for Work Experience = 8x/36(if 0<x <36)

                                                      = 8 (if x> 36)

Where x indicates the months of work experience up to July 2020, as captured in CAT application form. This implies that the score will peak at 36 months work experience and will remain at that level for candidates with work experience exceeding 36 months. The work experience score will be multiplied by the quality of work experience score on a 5 point scale i.e. 0.25 – 0.5 – 1 – 1.5 – 2 etc. as given by the interviewers in the personal interview process in stage 2, to then arrive at a weighted work experience score.

IIM Visakhapatnam Admission Norms 2020-20

The candidates who are selected in stage 2 will be called for a detailed application submission which will include a statement of purpose, mark sheets and certificates of past academic records, reservation category if applied and work experience. IIM Visakhapatnam will only consider those candidates for further rounds of personal interview who will submit these details.

If any candidate has been shortlisted interviewed by any of the following IIMS, s/he needs not attend personal interview round at IIM Visakhapatnam:

• IIM Indore
• IIM Lucknow
• IIM Bangalore
• IIM Kozhikode
• IIM Calcutta

For such candidate who have been interviewed at any of the above mentioned IIMs, their scores for personal interview and written ability test considered in the following manners as per the IIM Visakhapatnam admission guideline 2020:

• If IIM Bangalore has shortlisted any candidate for personal interview and writing ability test, IIM Visakhapatnam will consider his scores.
• IIM Visakhapatnam will use the score of candidates for personal interview and written ability test from IIM Kozhikode, IIM Lucknow, IIM Calcutta and IIM Indore.

Candidates who haven’t been shortlisted and interviewed by any of the IIMs mentioned above, they are required to appear for personal interview and written ability test at IIM Visakhapatnam.

IIM Visakhapatnam Admission Criteria 2020-20 – Final Selection Stage

Candidates will be shortlisted for final selection process of IIM Visakhapatnam based on the final list which will be prepared considering the final aggregate score. The weightage given is mentioned in the table below:

Since IIM Visakhapatnam follows a comprehensive multi – criteria process, it is able to identify several candidates who are having outstanding academic performance and work experience but who while doing well enough in AT to be in the first shortlist, may have narrowly missed the high score that would have been required if CAT alone was the basis for admission. Such candidates effectively replace the candidates who have only a high CAT score but score poorly in terms of their past academic record and work experience. IIM Visakhapatnam emphasized consistent and high performance in the past academics.
