Home > Articles > After IIT, IIM Jammu Gets Green Light from Union Cabinet
The Union cabinet recently approved the appeal of setting up Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Jammu. This approval by Union cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has come under the PM’s development package for Jammu and Kashmir.
Notably there are 19 IIMs already running in the country in different states and IIM Jammu will be the 20th one in the list.
According to the sources, IIM Jammu will take the cost of around Rs 62 crore for the setup and will work from a temporary campus at Old Government College of Engineering and Technology for the initial four years, i.e. 2020 to 2020.
Also, IIM Jammu will have a student strength intake of 54 for this year (2020-17) in the PGDPM course and will go up to 120 students in the fourth year.

The detailed project report for the permanent campus is under preparation and the process for setting up of the campuses would start thereafter.
IIM Jammu will be run and managed by the Society with a Board of Governors (BOGs) to be constituted by the government, which will administer the institute and would be responsible for its establishment and operations.
