IIT JAM 2020 admission procedure is a process through which the exam conducting body will admit eligible students to Integrated Ph. D degree programmes offered at IISc Bangalore, M.Sc- Ph. D dual degree, M. Sc-M. Tech, M. Sc. – M. S. (Research)/ Ph. D dual degree, Joint M.Sc-Ph. D and other post-graduate programmes at IITs. Admission to the above-mentioned academic programmes in IISc Bangalore and IITs for the academic session 2020-19 will be offered based on all India merit list of JAM 2020. Candidates who qualify in a test paper of IIT JAM must be eligible to apply for admission to all the academic programmes corresponding to that test paper, provided they also satisfy the minimum educational qualifications and the eligibility requirements as specified by the institutes. After the declaration of JAM 2020 results, qualified candidates will be required to apply to the organizing institute, i.e. IIT Delhi, specifying their preferences for the programmes. Candidates should note that being in the merit list of any test paper will neither guarantee nor will provide any automatic entitlement for admission.
The candidates who will qualify the online test and will obtain rank in the merit list will be eligible to take part in the IIT JAM 2020 counselling process. The JAM counselling process will begin in the second or third week of April 2020. In order to participate in the counselling process, the candidates must fill in the application form for admission through the website.
The counselling process will comprise of the following steps:
The candidates will have to fill the application form in online mode for admissions with an application fee of Rs. 600/-. The payment of the application fee can be made through credit card, debit card or by making use of internet banking. Candidates will have to upload scanned images of the mandatory documents.
Once the admission offer is received, the candidates will have the access to log into the website and choose any one of the following options, namely, “Accept and Freeze”, “Accept and Upgrade” or “Reject and Quit”.
Once the candidate accepts the seat, he/she will be required to pay the “Seat Booking Fee” in online mode only.
There will be different rounds in the counselling process. If the applicant is allotted a seat for admissions, candidates are needed to report to the allotted college for balance fee payment and other admission procedure. In case a candidate fails to accept the admission offer, they will not be considered for further admission procedure.
