JAM 2013 (Joint Admission Test) for M.Sc 2013 programmes will be conducted by IIT Delhi on 10 February 2013.
About JAM
The Indian Institutes of Technology have been conducting the Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) since 2004-05. The objective of JAM is to provide admissions to various M.Sc., Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree and other post-bachelor degree programmes at the IITs & to integrated Ph.D programmes at IISc (Indian Institute of Science), Bangalore based on the performance in a single test and to consolidate Science as a career option for bright students from across the country. In due course, JAM is also expected to become a benchmark for normalizing undergraduate level science education in the country.

The M.Sc. (Two Year), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D, M.Sc.-Ph.D.Dual Degree and other post-bachelor’s degree programmes at the IITs and the integrated Ph.D. programmes at IISc offer high quality education in their respective disciplines,comparable to the best in the world. The integrated Ph.D. Programmes at IISc was started in the early 90s to enable students to directly join for a Ph.D. degree after their B.Sc. Degree.

TEST SCHEDULE FOR JAM 2013
JAM 2013 will be held on Sunday, 10 February, 2013 in two sessions. The schedule for different test papers of JAM 2012 is given below:

Number of test papers allowed
A candidate can appear in either one or two test papers, subject to the restrictions imposed by the Test schedule given above and on payment of requisite additional fees for the second test paper, if applicable. Candidates desiring to appear in two test papers must ensure, from the above Test schedule, that there is no clash of time schedule for the chosen test papers.
Eligibility Criteria for Admission to IITs & IISc
The candidates who qualify in JAM 2013 shall have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria for admissions in IISc, Bangalore & IITs:
(i) IISc (Indian Institute of Science), Bangalore: First class marks (as declared by the university) for General/OBC category candidates and at least second class or 50% aggregate marks for SC and ST category candidates in the qualifying degree.
(ii) For IITs: At least 55% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC, ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree.For candidates with letter grades/CGPA (instead of percentage of marks), the equivalence in percentage of marks will be decided by the Admitting Institute(s).
(iii) Proof of having passed the qualifying degree with the minimum educational qualifications as specified by the admitting institutes
