JEE Main Result and Score

Nitin Rao updated on : 27 Apr, 2020 161

For almost every 12th pass student in PCM subjects, it is a dream to get admission in India’s top engineering and architectural colleges to pursue courses in the desired branch. JEE Main or the Joint Entrance Examination fulfils this dream of students. The exam is conducted every year by CBSE to offer admissions in various engineering and technology institutions across the country. Based on JEE Main result and score, students are given admission in prestigious participating colleges like IITs, NITs, IIITs, and several government-funded technical institutions.

JEE Main 2020 at a Gance

This year’s JEE Main exam is to be held on April 2, 2020 (offline exam) and April 8 and 9, 2020 (online exam). There are two papers – one for engineering aspirants and the second for architecture aspirants. However, students can appear for both or one of them. The JEE Main result and score for paper 1 has been announced by the conducting authorities on April 27, 2020, while the result and score for paper 2 will be out on May 27, 2020. You can only check the results on the official website. Based on these results, the admission counselling will start by the first week of July 2020.

What is JEE Main Cut-off?

CBSE considers a variety of factors before announcing a cut-off every year. This refers to the minimum score that will be required to be eligible to seek admission in any of the participating colleges. CBSE considers factors like the number of students appearing in JEE Main, the difficulty level of the exam, the number of seats available for allocation, cut-offs for previous years, etc. Based on the scores of students in paper 1 and 2, the cut-off is declared. For all students who do well in JEE Main result and score higher than the cut-off, the limited number of seats available in top engineering colleges wait for occupation.

How to Check JEE Main Result and Your Score/AIR

CBSE makes the JEE Main result and score available on the official exam website. As you may be eager to check your scores and All India Rank (also declared by CBSE based on scores), you may simply follow the following procedure:

  • Visit the exam website, www.jeemain.nic.in, on the results day.
  • In the login form that appears on the website page, provide your roll number, as well as your date of birth.
  • Click on Submit to receive your JEE Main result and score.
  • Save a copy of your results. You should download the scorecard that appears. It will be required at the time of counselling if you clear the cut-off or while accepting an allocated seat later. If you cannot find the link to download the scorecard, you should wait for its activation by CBSE.
  • Check the result to know your scores and status, along with your All India Rank (AIR). Your scorecard will majorly contain the following details:

o   Your name and your mother and father’s names

o   Your roll number, date of birth, and category

o   State code of eligibility

o   Roll number, year of passing, and exam board for class 12

o   Marks you obtained in each subject that is physics, chemistry, and maths

o   Your total marks obtained in JEE Main

o   Your All India Rank

o   Candidates’ eligibility status to appear in JEE Main and the cut-offs based on the category to appear in JEE Advanced. (Please note that JEE Advanced is the next level of exam that can be taken to get admission in IITs. Only meritorious candidates in JEE Main result and score are allowed to appear for JEE Advanced.)

Expected Cut-off in JEE Main 2020 Result

As this year’s JEE Main result and score are not yet declared, we can only provide you with an expected cut-off for each category of students. However, please note that this is simply an estimate of cut-off based on the cut-offs for previous years and may not match the exact cut-off CBSE will announce on the day of JEE Main 2020 results. Previous Year Cut-offs for Top Colleges

You will also need to meet the cut-offs decided by individual colleges. If you want an idea of the 2020 cut-offs by some top colleges, then let us share with you the opening and closing ranks that these colleges set in 2020. Important Points about JEE Main Result and Admissions

  • The rank card for JEE Main 2020 will be announced by June end.
  • From this year onward, the class 12 marks will not be considered while calculating the All India Ranks of students in JEE Main exam. Thus, CBSE will have a new method of rounding off the rankings.
  • The JEE Main result and score will only be available online for viewing and download, and you will not be sent any document with regard to it.
  • If you have to seek admission in IITs, then you will have to score high marks in JEE Main, so that you may get into the merit list to be finalised for appearing in the JEE Advanced exam. Your JEE Advanced score will make you eligible for IIT admissions.
  • The counselling for JEE Main and JEE Advanced will be held together by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). You will need to register for counselling online and provide your institute and branch preferences for JoSAA’s consideration towards seat allotment.
