The Karnataka state government will accept Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) scores only for admission to MBA courses from this year onwards.
The decision was taken in a Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) board meeting.
Sources, who confirmed the decision, said that CMAT will be the single entrance test in the state and no other authorities are allowed to conduct any entrance exam for MBA courses.
The decision means only those students who have CMAT scores are eligible for pursuing MBA programmes.
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi holds CMAT for admissions to the Management programmes to all AICTE approved institutions and universities.
This year, the Karnataka state government scrapped the PGCET (Postgraduate Common Entrance Test) for Management programmes admissions across the state and replaced it with CMAT.
Until now, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) conducted PGCET; and on that basis KEA alloted seats.
From this year onwards, CBSE, which is the executive and conducting authority, will have the exclusive rights. KEA will allot seats based on the rank list released by CBSE.
