NEET 2020 Merit List

NEET 2020 Merit List will be published by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on its official website along with the result, tentatively in the month of June 2020. The NEET merit list displays the merit rank and names of the candidates who have qualified in NEET. Based on the NEET 2020 Cut-Off list, CBSE will release the merit list for 15% All India Quota candidates. To download the NEET 2020 scorecard, candidates must enter their NEET registration number, roll number and their date of birth. The NEET 2020 Merit List will be equal to the number of seats available for MBBS and BDS courses.

For candidates under the remaining 85% seats, the merit list for NEET will be prepared by the respective state conducting authority based on their NEET scores. Based on the rules and regulations assigned by the respective state counseling authority, candidates will be granted admission in various medical and dental colleges across the country.

NEET 2020 Merit List Eligibility Criteria

After the NEET result declaration, CBSE will announce the NEET 2020 Merit List, which will consist of the names of all the candidates who have successfully qualified for the NEET 2020 exam, in order of the All India Rank secured.

The NEET 2020 merit list eligibility criteria are set by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the Dental Council of India. As per these councils:

  • The General Category candidates must score a minimum of 50 percentile marks in NEET 2020. Those belonging to the reserved category (Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes) must score a minimum of 40 percentile marks in NEET 2020.
  • Candidates with a physical disability must score a minimum of 45 percentile marks in NEET 2020. The percentile is calculated based on the highest marks scored in the exam.
  • If a sufficient number of candidates are unable to secure the minimum marks as prescribed, the required minimum marks for admission may be lowered at the discretion of the concerned authorities.
  • The candidates must have passed each subject, i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually and must have secured a minimum of 50% marks together in Biology/Biotechnology, Chemistry, and Physics in NEET 2020.
  • Candidates belonging to the reserved categories are required to secure minimum 40% marks in the NEET 2020 exam. Those will Physical disability must secure at least 45% marks, those belonging to the general category with a physical disability must secure 45% marks and those belonging to SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH must score at least 40% marks in NEET.

NEET 2020 Tie-Breaker

In the case of two candidates securing equal marks in NEET 2020, CBSE has implemented certain norms for the purpose of assigning ranks in NEET 2020 Merit List. The rules for deciding inter-se-merit of candidates with equal marks in NEET 2020 are as follows:

  • The higher rank will be given to the candidate with higher marks in Biology (Botany/Zoology) in NEET 2020
  • The higher rank will be given to the candidate with higher marks in Chemistry in NEET 2020
  • The higher rank will be given to the candidate with less number of wrong answers in all subjects in NEET 2020
  • Candidate who is older in age will be preferred

NEET 2020 Merit List and NEET Counseling

Once the NEET 2020 Merit List and NEET result is announced, candidates will be called for the counseling process where they will have to opt for a college to seek admission in MBBS and BDS courses. The NEET counseling for 15% All India Quota candidates will be conducted by CBSE in an online mode. The detailed procedure will be released on the official website after the result is announced.

The NEET 2020 counseling for candidates other than the 15% All India Quota seats will be conducted by the respective state government authorities and the respective medical and dental colleges of India. The seats will be allotted based on the All India Rank secured by the candidate in the NEET exam.
