National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) is in the news for a considerable time now. In the following development, CBSE will start the process of online application for the NEET Phase II test to provide admissions into MBBS and BDS. The test is scheduled to take place on July 242020, as per the information available for now.

NEET came into the news on April 28 this year when the apex court gave a decision putting NEET as the only test to get admission into MBBS and BDS courses throughout India. The court gave the orders to consider AIPMT 2020 held on May 1, 2020 as NEET Phase I. On May 9 2020, the Supreme Court (SC) of India refused to amend its directive on April 28 and upheld NEET as the only test to fill up MBBS and BDS seats in the colleges throughout India.

After the concerns put forth by the state governments, Union Cabinet cleared an ordinance on 20th May 2014 that honourable president of India, Pranab Mukherjee, signed after meeting with the union health minister, JP Nadda. As the president signed the ordinance, the implementation of NEET as the only test for selecting candidates for MBBS and BDS courses in India is deferred by one year.
