Instructions

Each Question is printed both in Hindi and English Medium. Answer must be written in the medium specified in the Admission Certificate issued to you, which must be stated clearly on the cover of the answer book in the space provided for the purpose . No Marks will be given for the answers written in a medium other than that specific in the Admission Certificate.

 

Candidates should attempt all questions strictly in accordance with the instructions given under each question. The number of marks carried by each question is indicated at the end of the question.

1. Answer any two of the following (in about 150 words each)                                  15×2=30

 

a.  “The Indian renaissance was the creation of a few young minds-both Indian as well as foreign”. Analyse the  statement.

b.  “The tribal uprisings though sporadic and limited, were essentially against the oppression by the British” Comment.

c.  Discuss the problems that impeded the integration of the Princely States into the Indian Union. How were these problems tackled?

  2. “The Remote sensing technology has been used by India to effectively address its problems in the natural resource base” – Analyse this proposition.
  3. Watershed development in India
  4. “Food security in India is becoming a serious concern in view of the fast depletion of cultivable land”- discuss the veracity of the statement.
  5. Economic and ecological significance of the Himalayas for India.
  6. Give a critical analysis of the Integrated Wastelands Development Programme (IWDP) of India.

4. Write about the following (not exceeding 30 words each)                           3×10=30

  1. Slash- and- burn agriculture
  2. Ecological importance of Western Ghats
  3. Process of impeachment of Supreme Court judge of India
  4. Factors responsible for regional  variability of rainfall over India.
  5. West flowing and East flowing rivers of Peninsular India.
  6. Monsoon and tourism
  7. Mangroves
  8. Demographic dividend in India
  9. Competition Commission of India
  10. Debt Consolidation and Relief Facility (DCRF)

5. Answer any four of the following questions (in about 50 words each)                   5×4=20

  1. 58th National Film Awards .
  2. Reconstruction of Nalanda University.
  3. Martial art forms of South India.
  4. India’s transition to GST regime.
  5. National Rural Health Mission
  6. Special Economic Zones(SEZ)

6. Answer any two of the following questions (in about 150 words each)                   15×2=30

  1. “The ever increasing list of the basic structure is a check on the Constituent authority of Indian parliament”. Elucidate with reference to various Supreme Court Judgments.
  2. “Comprehensive Election reforms only can stem the rot in Indian polity”. Anlayse, focusing  the major reforms so far and their implications. Give your suggestions for further  reforms.
  3. “Judicial Activism in India has , of late, become a saviour of Indian democracy”- Do you agree? Substantiate your view.

 

7. Answer any two of the following questions (in about 150 words each)                   15×2=30

  1. “Displacement Vs Development –in the changing times many compromises are bound to happen” – Do you agree with this statement in the backdrop of recent Indian developments.
  2. Give an account of the initiatives by the Indian Government in ensuring transparency in public administration.
  3. How far the establishment of National Investigation Agency( NIA) will be successful in tackling the issue of terrorism .

8. Answer any one of the following questions (in about 250 words each)                  30X1= 30

  1. What do you mean by the term “Micro Finance”. What are its various manifestations in India? Discuss the issues around it and suggest your views to make it as a strong tool for improving the economic conditions of the under-privileged.
  2. Analyse the trends in employment in India. What are the recent initiatives by the Government to tackle the urban and rural unemployment ?

 

9. Answer any two of the following questions (in about 150 words each)                   15×2=30

  1. “The Indian Government has been successful in preserving its interests in the realm of Intellectual Property Rights”. Analyse the statement with reference to the issue on Bt- Brinjal.
  2. “Public Health in India: Government programmes are plenty but lack of will on the part of citizens remains the major impediment”. Comment.

c.   What are the concerns raised by Global Warming in India? What steps India has  taken to   contain its effects.
