Located in the University Enclave, St. Stephen’s is the oldest college of Delhi University, founded in 1881 as a Christian Missionary College. St. Stephen’s is a Christian college under the Church of North India and widely regarded as one of the oldest and most prestigious colleges for arts and sciences in India. It is the alma mater to some of the most highly successful names like Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Khushwant Singh, Barkha Dutt, Kapil Sibal and more. Famous for its mince cutlets and long open corridors of Anglo-Indian architecture, Stephens has established itself as a leading institution for providing education in the arts and sciences streams.

A private college, SRCC was founded by late Lala Shri Ram in 1926. Offering only two courses at an undergraduate level, it is known for its level of expertise and specialisation in commerce and economics. The college had its first campus in Daryaganj and then in 1957, it shifted to its present location in the North Campus of Delhi University. The infrastructure found across the campus is highly modern, equipped with centrally air-conditioned classrooms. Alongside the sky high placement packages, it also boasts of exchange programs with international universities such as Sciences Po in France.

Providing courses in the science, arts and commerce streams, Hindu College was founded in 1899. Historically, the Hindu College is known for being a centre for intellectual debate during the Pre-Partition Struggle. With its Dramatics Society and Cricket Team producing names such as Imtiaz Ali and Ajay Jadeja, the college is proud of its extracurricular activities and excellence in sports alongside quality education. It has been awarded the 'Star College' status for the Department of Biotechnology, by the Ministry of Science and Technology of India.

Founded in 1948, Hansraj College was an institution meant only for men until its first three decades. Hansraj has produced some of the known names of alumni, who are now prominent leaders in their fields nationally and internationally. Hansraj is the first college of Delhi University and the first Central University College to hoist a Monumental National Flag inside its campus. It is currently being run by the D.A.V. group as a public college. Size wise, it is one of the largest colleges with a student body of over 5,000. Hansraj is also home to a well-equipped sports facility with an indoor sports complex and the only electronic shooting range in the university.

Miranda House was set up in 1948 as a women’s educational institution offering courses in liberal arts and science. Architecturally, it is a built along the red brick pattern found during the colonial era, which has been featured in many major motion pictures such as Fukrey, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and The Reluctant Fundamentalist. It also offers career oriented add-on courses in Tourism, Operations Research, Green Chemistry, Media Studies, to name a few and has pioneered the first computer-based resource centre for visually challenged students. The College was rated as the best college in India in National Institutional Ranking Framework for the year 2020.

Relatively new, established only in 1987, SSCBS or CBS was built as the first collegiate business college in India with a vision to provide excellence in the undergraduate education of management and information technology. Its practical approach to teaching theoretical coursework has attracted professional placements in some high prestige companies such as McKinsey&Co, Nokia, Ernst&Young, KPMG, to name a few.

One of the three premier founding colleges of Delhi University, Ramjas was founded in 1917. It is known for its rich heritage, famous traditions and active participation of its students in politics since the Quit India Movement. Infrastructurally, it boasts of modern, state-of-the-art classrooms, auditoriums, and a technology friendly library. Ramjas is one of the few colleges to have on-campus hostel facilities for both boys and girls. Ramjas celebrated 100 years in January 2020. The college is also popular among students due to proximity to some of the cheap and best eating joints in North Campus.

IP College, founded by freedom fighter and philanthropist, Annie Besant in 1924, is the oldest women’s college of the University. It has recently upgraded its campus so as to provide modern facilities along with a hundred percent power backup. It is the only college to offer a Bachelors degree in Mass Media and Mass Communication.

Commonly known as Amitabh Bachchan’s College, KMC is a government-supported institution founded in 1954. It offers undergraduate degree courses in streams of science, arts and commerce. The students and the alumni of the college are known by the term, ‘Kirorians'. Apart from academics, KMC has a spectacular history in sports with the backing of a sports ground developed on the Commonwealth standard. It is also well known for its theatre and debating society, which is considered to be one of the best in the varsity circuit.

Built in 1960, Daulat Ram College is an all-girls college offering courses in arts, commerce and science. It was originally named as Pramila College but was renamed after the educationist Daulat Ram Gupta. It is ranked in the top 30 colleges of Delhi University. It has the provision for its students to take up additional courses in various foreign languages and women and development.
