UPSC Civil Service Examinations on 26th May 2013

The UPSC Civil Services Examination (Prelims and Mains) is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for entrance to the IAS, IPS and IFS. Civil service is the name given to numerous departments and agencies that provide services directly to the public and to the government.

 

Eligibility Criteria


Nationality:

 

  • For Indian Administrative Service, a candidate should be a citizen of India.
  • For Indian Foreign Service and other services, a candidate should either be a citizen of India/ a subject of Nepal/ a subject of Bhutan/ a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India/a person of Indian origin who has migrated from other countries (detailed list of countries available on official website) with the intention of permanently settling in India.

 

Age Limit:

 

  • Candidate should be between 21 – 30 years (both inclusive) as on the date mentioned under the UPSC examination notification.
  • The upper age limit is relaxed up to a maximum of:

Exam pattern:

The preliminary examination consists of two papers of objective type (multiple-choice questions) carrying a maximum of 450 marks. The question papers (test booklets) are set in English & Hindi.


Educational Qualification:

 

  • Candidate must be a graduate from a recognized university or a deemed university.
  • Candidate appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree and awaiting result can also apply.
  • Candidate possesses professional and technical qualification recognised by Government equivalent to the professional and technical degree can also apply.
  • Candidate who has passed the final professional M.B.B.S. or any other Medical Examination but has not completed his/her internship by the time of submission of his/her application for the Civil Services (Main) Examination.
