For the students of K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering, Vidyavihar, 29th September brings along great excitement with the arrival of their annual technical festival Abhiyantriki ‘15. Preparations are in full swing with their technical councils and organizing committee working day and night behind the scenes to make it a success. The entire 65 acre campus of Vidyavihar can be felt humming with excitement. The college with a strength of 3000 prepared to host this huge technical fiesta expecting an inflow of about 4000 students.

To keep up the enthusiasm of the students, a number of pre-events were organized. Workshops were conducted on Ethical Hacking, Cyber Security and Robotics. A national level coding competition, Code Spree was arranged where students displayed their exceptional coding skills. To add to the fun quotient of the festival, Rubik’s Cube competitions were held with exciting takeaway prizes for the winners. The response received was amazing with participants ranging from school children to maters graduates.

The highlight events of Abhiyantriki 15’, the Technical Expo, Internship Expo, Keynote Speaker and Sparkle are a major appeal of the festival. In the Technical Expo, innovative technological exhibits from various companies, such as 3D Printers and RC Cars and creative student made projects, like a human following shopping cart, will be put up on display in the college. This will enable students to venture outside of their fields and witness all types of latest technological projects.

The Internship Expo is an exclusive opportunity for students to get on the spot internship offers from over 20 different companies that will be visiting the campus to interview students for a wide range of positions, in both Technical and Non-Technical fields. For the keynote speaker this year, Abhiyantriki is proud to host Mr. Deepak Marda, the former MD of one of the biggest multiplex chains in Mumbai. Having completed his B. Tech from IIT Bombay, MS from the University of Cincinnati, he went on to pursue an MBA from the prestigious Stanford University. He will be interacting with the students and telling them his motivational story, ‘From Sangli to Stanford’ of a small town boy making it into the big leagues.

For those who like cracking their brains, Sparkle is an event that invites students to present their original smart solutions to real world problems of energy and transportation. Sparkle is presented by one of the leading IT companies in India and promises impressive cash prizes to the winners.

In addition to these highlight events, Abhiyantriki has a wide variety of other tech competitions that include coding, robotics, mechanics and paper presentations. Not only do these competitions provide good exposure to students, but allow them to pursue their skills and interest. For those whose interest isn’t piqued by these tech events, there is still plenty of other things to explore at Abhiyantriki.  Some fun events to be conducted include treasure hunt, laser tag, FIFA Manager, LAN gaming and art competitions.
