First, take a few minutes to ask yourself the question: Is this the best suited career for you? Those who begin without an honest assessment face chances of burning out of the track or not be able to give their best. If there is confusion, take professional help of an able career counsellor.

You may take a test on CLAT pattern to check the essentials (IMS provides a free preliminary test for this). This test should be taken without any preparation. Collect relevant past year papers of different entrance tests. It is also vital to choose the right books, and guides.

Although the way of preparation should vary from person to person here are some general strategies.
General Knowledge has broadly two types of questions: static GK and current affairs. Static GK relates to questions from the constitution, geography, history, science and general questions. A good year book and some good reference material should be sufficient for it. For current affairs one should keep maintaining a note of the important and relevant news per day.

Mathematics is the easiest section, but those not good at maths need to provide proper time to this right from the beginning. Most of the questions are from arithmetic.

Legal Reasoning deals with your logical skills. Knowledge of law is not required. Try to enhance your logical skills and practice the tricky questions.

Logical reasoning tests your logic as well as comprehending ability. This also tests your rationality and argumentation powers. A good grasp over English helps.

English questions are similar to the school exams. Therefore it does not require effort if your vocabulary and basics are good.

Tie-breakers in the CLAT

If there is a tie between two or more candidates in the CLAT examination result, the same shall be resolved in the following order:

  • Higher marks in the section on Legal Aptitude/ Legal Awareness of the CLAT exam
  • Elder candidate will be preferred
  • Draw of lots

Important Dates for CLAT 2015

Provisional date for Results: N/A
