Girls Rugby team at Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) brings laurels to the institute by winning the Touraid U-13 International Rugby Tournament 2014 in London.
After the seven years the boys Rugby Team won the Manchester Touraid Festival, this time the tribal girls of KISS completed a sensational hat trick by winning the 20 team Touraid Girls Festival.
The winning team include Sumita Nayak, Manika Mahi, Elizabeth Pradhan, Jemanani Naik, Rajani Sabar, Lija Sarder, chandamani Munda, Pravasini Nayak, Minati Hansdah and Nurupama Mallick. Mianisa Tarasia and Roshan Xaxa accompanied the team as Manager and Coach respectively.
The tournament had participations of 8 different international teams like Brazil, Colombia, Hong Cong, St. Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago, Swaziland and Uganda.
According to Dr. A. Samanta, founder of KIIT & KISS, it is a matter of pride for the institute and the country as the team represented India in international level and won the prestigious trophy and also will set an example for the tribal community. He also thanked Touraid for conducting this international tournament.
Today’s woman is not less than boys and this has been proven again. They have reached every sector and compete side by side and many a times left boys behind. This achievement of KISS Girls Team again proves that they are also capable of take challenges in the field of sports also. Hats off to them.
