AIEEE 2012-All India Engineering/ Architecture Entrance Exam Notification

About the Exam

The All India Engineering/ Architecture Entrance Examination (AIEEE) is a common entrance examination conducted by the CBSE on all India basis for admission to professional and technical programmes in the country. This exam is being conducted in accordance with government policies to take care of varying admission standards in these programmes and to help maintain professional standards. On 1st May 2011, the tenth AIEEE was held which was taken by over 10 lakh students. Approximately, 18411 seats for BE/B.Tech & 930 seats for B.Arch/B.Planning in various institutions, namely National Institutes of Technology, IIITs, CFIs & 15900 seats of B/B.Tech &140 Seats for B. Arch/B.Planning in Universities/ self financed Institutions are available to fill up through the Central Counselling Board. A centralized online counselling had been organized for filling up the All India seats by the Central Counselling Board.


Eligibility Criteria

Academic Qualification

The minimum academic qualification for appearing in AIEEE 2012 is that the candidate must have passed in final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) or its equivalent referred to as the qualifying examination.

Those appearing in 10+2 (Class XII) final or equivalent examination in 2012 may also appear in AIEEE 2012 provisionally.

The equivalent examinations of 10+2 are:

  • The +2 level examination in the 10 + 2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board Of Secondary Examination, Central Board of Secondary Examination, New Delhi and Council for Indian School certificate Examination, New Delhi.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.
  • Final examination of the two- year course of the joint services wing of National Defence Academy.
  • Any public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognised by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10 + 2 system.
  • H.S.C. Vocational Examination.
  • A Pass grade in the Senior secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.


Subject combinations required in the qualifying examination for admission to B.E./B.Tech. and B. Arch./B. Planning Courses shall be as under:

Age

Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1987 are eligible. However, in the case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. SC, ST and PWD candidates who were born on or after October 01, 1982 are eligible. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate only will be taken as authentic.


Exam Pattern 

Entrance examination would consist of two papers:

  • 1st paper consisting of three parts of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of equal weight age with objective type questions for B.E/B.Tech courses in offline/online mode 
  • 2nd paper consisting of Mathematics, Aptitude Test and Drawing for B.Architecture & B. Planning in offline mode. The Aptitude Test is designed to evaluate candidate’s perception, imagination, observation, creativity and architectural awareness.


There will be objective type questions with four options having single correct answer. For each incorrect response, one fourth (1/4) of the total marks allotted to the question would be deducted. No deduction from the total score will, however, be made if no response is indicated for an item in the answer sheet. The candidates appearing for Offline Exam are advised not to attempt such item in the answer sheet if they are not sure of the correct response. More than one answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect response and will be negatively marked. All objective type questions are required to be answered on specially designed machine gradable answer sheets. Answers are to be marked using ball point pen (black/blue) only. For the purpose of evaluation, Test Booklet Code as printed in the Answer Sheet on Side-2 will be accepted as final.

**Examination of B.E. /B.Tech will be held online only between 7th May-26th May 2012 and of B.Arch/B.Planning offline only on 29th April 2012 from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm


The candidates have to pay 2% additional fee in addition to examination fees + service tax as applicable for remittance of fees through debit / credit card.

 
NOTE : Candidates appearing for B.E./B.Tech or B.Arch/B. Planning or both BE/B.Tech and B.Arch/B.Planning together should send their fee either through Debit/Credit Cards or in the form of Demand Draft in favour of SECRETARY, CBSE PAYABLE AT DELHI/NEW DELHI only. Demand draft payable other than Delhi/New Delhi will not be accepted and their candidature will be rejected.
