Located in the outskirts of Mumbai, lies at the foothills of the Sahyadri Mountain a serene place which is setting an example in sustainable living for the world to admire and follow. Govardhan Eco Village (GEV), an award winning eco-community spread over 70 acres has already achieved something for which corporates are pouring millions of dollar in CSR. It was to this magnificent hamlet that a group of students from the sustainability club of
Aditya Institute of Management Studies & Research, Mumbai, AIMSR paid a visit on
November 16, 2014 to this heaven.
The students were informed of what is GEV's Symbiotic Development Model which helped them attain what they have and that has left an indelible impression in their approach towards finding sustainable living solutions. A short time spent in GEV and you'd know how different things are organized. Everything is aimed towards sustainable living: be it 10 million liters of water being harvested from a pond, the organic cooking fuel being sourced from cattle raised in the farms or the state of the art waste management
Throughout the day the locals and the students engaged in various activities at the cow shed and brick kiln. There was a final team building and coordination session which required the students to erect a tower as high as possible using duct tape and newspaper only.
