Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) 2012 by Indian Air Force: Admission Notification

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is part of Indian Armed Forces. It is responsible to secure Indian air space and conduct aerial warfare during a conflict. It aims to overwhelm the adversaries with application of aerospace power in defence of the nation.

IAF conducts Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) to select eligible men and women for its Flying Branch, Technical Branch and Ground Duty Branch.

IAF invites applications for AFCAT 2012 from eligible men and women for courses commencing in January 2013.

 

Eligibility for AFCAT 2012

The eligibility criterion for AFCAT 2012 is different for all the three branches.

1. Eligibility for Flying Branch

  • You must be of 19 to 23 years of age on 1st January, 2013
  • You must have minimum 60% marks in graduation from a recognised university.
  • You must have 60% marks in 10+2 with Maths and Physics
  • You must have 60% marks in BE or B.Tech. from a recognised university
  • You must have minimum height of 162.5 cms with correlated weight
  • You must have minimum visual acuity of 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other eye.

2. Eligibility for Technical Branch  

  • You must be of 18 to 28 years of age on 1st January, 2013
  • If you are applying for Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) and Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) under Aeronautical Engineers Course (AEC), you must have four year degree from recognised university or cleared section A and B exam of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies. 
  • You are eligible to apply for Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) and Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) under University Entry Scheme (UES) if you are in pre- final year of B.E/ B.Tech. degree from a recognised university. 
  • You must secure 60% marks in the qualifying exams.
  • You must have minimum height of 157.5 cms with correlated weight (for men) or 152 cms with correlated weight (for women).

3. Eligibility for Men for Ground Duty Branch  

  • You must be of 20 to 23 years of age if you have completed graduation.
  • You must be of 20 to 25 years of age if you have completed Post Graduation or LLB (5 years).
  • You must be of 20 to 27 years of age if you have completed M.Ed., Ph.D., CA or ICWA.
  • You must have minimum height of 157.5 cms with correlated weight (for men) or 152 cms with correlated weight (for women).


Application Procedure for AFCAT 2012

  • You can apply for AFCAT 2012 by download application format from official Career Website of Indian Air Force (IAF) (http://careerairforce.nic.in)
  • You can type or write application on A4 size paper.
  • You should write in block letters ‘Application for Air Force Common Admission Test’ on the envelope of your application. 
  • You can send the complete application form for AFCAT 2012 by post to your preferred AFCAT examination centre.
  • You should send following documents with your application for AFCAT 2012
    a. One self addressed envelope (in block letters) of 23x10 cms with Rs. 27/- postage stamp.
    b. One self addressed envelope (in block letters) of 23x10 cms with Rs. 5/- postage stamp.
    c. Two unattested recent coloured photographs with your name written on the reverse

Last Date for Receipt of Forms: 13th January, 2012
Date of AFCAT 2012 entrance Exam: 26th February, 2012
