A 21-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her hostel room in Amity University premises situated in Chandwaji area on Jaipur Delhi National Highway on Tuesday. The girl didn't attend classes on Tuesday and was spotted hanging by her roommates when they returned to their hostel in the afternoon. Police said they didn't recover any suicide note from the spot.

According to police, the girl, Kavita Dilawar was LLB fourth semester student and resident of Baran district. "Kavita had skipped classes on Tuesday telling her hostel mates that she was not feeling well," said SHO, Chandwaji Surendra Singh.

The officer said as per her hostelmates, she looked depressed. "The other girls went to the classes and returned around 5 pm. The room in which Kavita stayed was bolted from inside. When she didn't open it after repeated knocks, the girls peeked into it through a window and saw her hanging. They then informed the police," said the officer.

The officer added that a police team from Chandwaji police station was rushed to the spot. "We got her down and informed her family members. They will arrive soon," said the officer.

The officer said the police didn't find any suicide note from the hostel room, so they are not yet certain as to why she took the extreme step. "We are studying her mobile call records and recording statement of other girls in the hostel to know why she committed suicide," said the officer.

The body has been put in the mortuary of a hospital. A post-mortem examination will be conducted after the girls' family members reach Chandwaji.
