An annual inter-school quiz competition is being organised by the students of
NIT Patna under the aegis of the institute’s professors from November 2014. The quiz is organised in the memory of late professor Jai Prakash of
Civil Engineering Department who passed away due to sudden cardiac arrest in 2011. The J.P Memorial Quiz has been organised annually since 2012 and this is the third edition. Continuing the legacy of previous editions, the students are determined to make the event a grand success this year as well.
Since the quiz is an interschool event, students from classes IX to XII from different schools of Patna will be participating in it. It is a two tier competition. The first phase is a pen and paper based round. In this round the participants are required to answer 40 questions in 30 minutes. The questions will range from a variety of topics including general science, space and technology, current affairs, logical reasoning and quantitative aptitude. Furthermore, the questionnaire will be common for all the students and as such there won’t be any technical questions asked since, the aim of the quiz is to test the awareness of the students and not their academic qualifications.
The selected top 3 students from each school will go on to represent their schools and compete against other schools in the finale which will be held on 11th January, 2015 in NIT Patna. The winners will be felicitated with certificates of excellence, medals, trophies and cash prizes worth Rs 8,000. Also, top 10 students from each school will receive merit certificates.
Last year more than 4500 students participated in the event and this year it is expected to cross the 5K mark. The defending champions are St. Michael’s High School who won the event last year with a huge margin. But this year the competition is expected to be much tougher with more number of schools participating and bringing in appreciable talent from all quarters of Patna.
Grand finale will be on January 11, 2015. For more information please visit
