Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University, Punjab offers courses at both, the undergraduate as well as post graduate level. All the programmes offered by the university have different eligibility criteria. Please find detailed eligibility criteria here before applying. The last date to apply for UG courses is 20th May 2020 whereas for PG courses the last date to apply is 24th June 2020.

One must remember that for admission to undergraduate courses in the university, a candidate must have a resident proof of Punjab or the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

Undergraduate courses offered at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Science University:

• Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc & A.H.) – 5 years
• Bachelor of Fisheries Sciences (B.F.Sc) – 4 years
• Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) – Dairy Technology – 4 years

Eligibility for undergraduate programmes:

A candidate must have passed or awaiting the result for 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Biology, Chemistry & English from a recognized board with at least aggregate 50% (for SC/ST/OBC – 40%) excluding the optional subjects.

In case of B.Tech – Dairy Technology, the main subjects studied by a candidate should be Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry & English.

It is important to note that a candidate should have the same set of subjects at 10+1 as well as 10+2 level.


Postgraduate courses offered at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Science University:

• Master of Veterinary Science (M.V. Sc)
• Master of Veterinary Science (M.V. Sc) – Animal Biotechnology / Master of Science (M. Sc) – Biotechnology)
• Master of Fisheries Science (M. F. Sc) – Aquaculture, Fisheries Resource Management
• Master of Technology (M. Tech) – Dairy Technology
• Master of Technology (M. Tech) – Dairy Engineering
• Master of Technology (M. Tech) – Dairy Microbiology
• Master of Technology (M. Tech) – Dairy Economics

Eligibility for postgraduate programmes:

A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B. V. Sc & A.H.) or B.Sc. (Biotechnology/Medical) or B.Sc. (Hons.) Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/Microbiology and Molecular Genetics or B. F. Sc or B. Tech in the specific fields or any equivalent degree with minimum OGPA/OCPA of 6.00 (out of 10.00) or at least an aggregate of 60% marks.

For the in-service candidates for all Master’s programmes, the required OCPA is at least 5.50 (out of 10.00) or 55% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination.

Students from other states will be considered if all the seats are not filled by the end of the 1st counseling session on a merit basis.

Admission Procedure:

Aspiring candidates can download the prospectus from the official website of the university or can click here. The prospectus will contain the details of the course, eligibility, schedule for entrance tests and counseling, interview details, and other important information pertaining to the admission procedure and procurement of seat.

The candidates will have to apply online for the Common Entrance Test (CET) – GADVASU for admission to courses such as B. V. Sc & A.H. / B. F. Sc / B. Tech (Dairy Technology).

The candidates will have to pay the required fee by the due date and time for admission to the above mentioned undergraduate programmes.

The university was established in Ludhiana in the year 2005 by an act of the Punjab Legislature. The university began its operations from April 2006 with an objective to promote livestock production, health and immunity along with the prevention of diseases through the application of research and extension programmes.
