Political science is the study of politics, political institutions, government affairs and public administration. And, an expert in this science is called as political analyst. As an analyst in public policy and government affairs, a political analyst’s job is to work on public policy advocacy, issue analysis and government affairs in a socio-political environment. He/she needs to understand other sub-fields of political science as well, such as public policy, national politics, international relations, and comparative politics.
Career Opportunities
Newspapers, public interest research groups and public opinion pollsters look for researchers who have a thorough background in socio-political economy, policy analysis and political behaviour. Some political analysts advance to top-level like political advisors to state and central ministers. And, with all hard work, luck and stars in place they can become advisors to Prime Minister and President as well.
Some can choose to have long lasting careers in teaching, research, law, media and journalism, public administration or policy making. People who love to be associated with glamour choose to work with the media as political journalists or political scientists.
