Career in Zoology in India has been one of the most coveted science courses. Students have many queries and confusions related to zoology career in India. For all the students who are curious to know about the avenues after studying Zoology, you’ll be glad to know that there are various fields where you can carve a niche for yourselves such as Environmental Science, Biotechnology, Forestry and Wildlife Science, Forensic Science, Anthropology, and fields like Micro-Biology, Marine Sciences, Pharmacy, Veterinary, Agricultural or Fisheries Sciences, Oceanography and so on.

Zoology is the branch of science which deals with the study of animal kingdom including the evolution, structure, classification, embryology, habits and distribution of all the animals. This course is taken by candidates who are interested in the study of animals. After completing the course, candidates can either opt for higher studies or they can search for jobs. There are numerous higher study options for graduates in B.Sc. Zoology. Graduates in Zoology can also find various job opportunities. There are various government research organizations which conduct a variety of studies, such as the Zoological Survey of India, the Indian Council for Forestry Research and Education, or the Wildlife Institute, Dehradun, as well as medical research establishments conducting high quality research. Also, in the pharmaceutical sector zoologists with specialization in microbiology study microbes and organisms that cause diseases (in humans, animals as well as plants), evaluating antibiotics and developing vaccines, and manufacturing drugs.

Eligibility for Zoology Courses in India:

  • If you wish to opt for a bachelor’s degree in zoology, you need to have passed 10+2 with Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognised Board.
  • If you’re seeking admission to master’s degree in zoology, you must have obtained a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks from a recognised University.
