Career Prospects of Popular Science Streams

It is a tough decision that a student has to make while churning out options of what he/she wishes to pursue as a career. Many of them land into a similar kind of dilemma where they are surrounded by questions like - 'Which are the career options 12th science stream that I can opt for?', 'Who can provide me career guidance after 12th science?' etc. These types of questions are critical because a student's career depends on the same. 

Hence to help you make your decisions wiser, we have a list of opportunities in science related subjects. You can look into the details of these while chalking out a plan for your career after 12th science. Some of them are:

  • Forensic Science: The challenging and interesting field of forensic science is related with the investigation of crime and has a great value in courts or legal proceedings. It involves analyzing all physical evidence found on a victim on the scene of a crime and provides expert testimony in a court of law. The evidences might include traces of blood, saliva, other body fluids, hair, fingerprints, footwear impressions, explosives, specimens of tissue for poisons, blood and urine for alcohol, etc. Based on the analysis of evidence collected they have to prepare a report of their investigation. They work closely with the police to provide scientific evidence that is admissible in the court. Forensic experts can find jobs in government as well as private sector.
     
  • Medical Science: Along with the usual MBBS, science students can find avenues in BDS (Dental Surgery), B. Pharma (Pharmacy), Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Nursing, Veterinary Science, etc.  One can also attain specialisations in the field of medicine and surgery to become a Psychiatrist, Neurologist, Paediatrician, Pathologist, Cardiologist, etc. To get admitted to a reputed medical college, various combined entrance exams are held at state levels. Also various diplomas are available in the field of nursing, pharmacy, etc. The eligibility criteria basically remain having science in high school.
     
  • Horticulture: A horticulturist is a professional who uses his/her knowledge of the science of plant cultivation. Horticulturists work to improve crop yield, quality, nutritional value, and resistance to insects, diseases and environmental stress.
     
  • Biotechnology: The field of biotechnology is one of the fastest growing fields. A career in biotechnology relates to research and development, clinical research, production and quality control and patent administration.
