Registration for CAT 2014 will open on August 6 at 10 am and will close at midnight September 30. The exam is scheduled to take place on November 16 and November 22, in four sessions, at 354 testing sites across 99 cities.
According to the announcement on the CAT 2014 IIMs website, CAT 2014 will also include the registration option for the new IIMs announced at Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, Odisha, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. These institutes are likely to commence their academic session from 2015-16.
The CAT centre will allot the dates and the candidate’s preferred city on a random basis. The purchase of offline vouchers has also been discontinued from this year and candidates will have to make the payment for the registration through online modes only.
The CAT notification, announced a few days ago, showed some major changes in this year’s exam. The duration of the examination has been increased to 170 minutes, from the existing 140 minutes, while questions in each section — Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning — have been increased to 50 from the existing 30 questions.
