It’s a known fact that the Indian management education is struggling very hard to survive in the fast changing global scenario but it is still in its crossroads where it needs to be directed immediately. Management education is focusing more on theory than on practical education. Technical students are taught theory papers and they are instructed to apply the same in their practical labs, which is not in the case of management studies. The instructor is expected to prepare case studies as per the profile of the students for sharing of knowledge in a better way. They should also have industrial experience so that the classroom can be livelier. And since there is a continuation of studies from UG to PG level, it leaves very little scope for industrial experience.

Most of the Management institutions are based on case study and the management educators are a blend of industry, research, training, etc. They do have productive classes with students having certain industrial experience, along with theoretical as well as practical knowledge .As a whole; they want to aim on training future business leaders. And such students always come out with flying colours along with the management institutes. They are much efficient in streamlining their knowledge according to the demand of the corporate sectors. Through theory as well as practical knowledge, students learn to develop leadership qualities which are necessary to run a team of workers. And a part of the curriculum focuses on assessing as evaluating teams for examining the role of a manager.

Some institutions have schools based on management studies only, which bring out students to turn around ailing firms, create companies and place themselves into a management position. And those who hold a management degree work for private as well as government agencies, firms, etc. Management education in India will definitely change its work culture, because management is the backbone of a good business company. A successful businessman can manage both product and people in an efficient way.

The Indian economy is badly in need of high quality managers to meet the nation’s growing business. And this makes the acquiring of MBA degree a valuable proposition which gives a very quick return. And this is the reason why like US, India too follows the process of MBA as a two year course with Executive MBA as one year course and now the trend has shifted to evening as well as part-time MBA, or even distance course.

Now-a-days, the business schools in India are differentiated in terms of the calibre of the faculty, infrastructure, and placement record. Some of the business schools like the IIMs focus on the quality of the education and on their completion of their degree successfully for global placement opportunities. These result the academic standards of the business schools to be more pathetic.

Tools and Techniques to Ensure Quality Management Education

There are certain tools which can be adopted for ensuring qualitative management education to students:

• The classrooms are expected to be learner centred and not teacher fronted.
• There should be a regular contact with the industry to be updated with the management curriculum technology.
• A management student having an industrial experience along with the case study is the need of the hour to understand and acquire knowledge in the classroom.
• The instructors are also expected to have a diversified experience of industry, teaching, training, etc.
• Students must be encouraged for innovative as well as creative ideas in educational field.
• Courses of studies must be updated before being taught in the classrooms. They must be updated according to the corporate need and this will help the students in getting a job.

Conclusion:

Students should take it as a challenging task to search for a new horizon because they should keep in the mind that corporate world needs change. Management education can only survive if it can meet the challenge of the rapid changing times and technologies. To conclude, the industry must come out with a supportive hand with the management education so that other business schools can also prosper like IITs and IIMs. And the govt. must encourage the faculties by providing fund for their training and research developments. Besides this, they must get a supportive hand from the industrial sectors, students, and some of the prominent leaders who can help them in streamlining Indian Management Education.
