Internationally renowned city-based dance-gurukul Mahagami is once again in news.
This time MAHAGAMI invited a delegation of 3 artists from China - Mr. ZHANG PING (Director- Centre for International Cooperation, Beijing Dance Academy) along with 2 senior dance teachers from Beijing Dance Academy (BDA) - Ms. XU LEI and Ms. ZHANG JING from China on January 4, 2015.
It is worth mentioning that MAHAGAMI team led by Guru Parwati Dutta (Director, MAHAGAMI) had been invited to China in Oct 2014 for performances, lectures and workshops by Chinese Govt and due to remarkable impact of their recent concert tour, the Delegation from China came all the way to know more about this dance organisation in Aurangabad and to extend artistic cooperation on a long-term basis.
Attarctions:
- Dance performance on January 5, 2015 under the guidance of Parwati Dutta for the Chinese guests giving an insight on the teaching methodology adapted at MAHAGAMI
- Traditional Indian dance with references from ancient scriptures
- Aspects of Chinese traditional dance to the MAHAGAMI teachers and students.
BDA Team has invited MAHAGAMI team to visit China every year for performances for their audiences and lectures/workshops for their 3000 full-time students. They have also proposed to start an "Indian Dance wing" at BDA to impart training in Indian dances with support from MAHAGAMI.
This is surely a great development not just in strengthening International Cultural relations with other nations and promoting Indian Heritage, but also in carving the future of MAHAGAMI students who will get global attention for their sincere learning at MAHAGAMI.
