The CLAT exam is required to take admission to LLB and LLM programs offered by various law colleges in India. The entrance test paper will comprise of a total of 200 marks, which will have to be completed in 2 hours. The question paper will be in a multiple-choice format for complete 200 marks. Please note that there will be a system of Negative Marking wherein 0.25 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer in the multiple choice question category.
The weightage of subjects covered in the CLAT 2015 LLB entrance exam paper include:
English including comprehension - The English section will test the proficiency in the English language based on comprehension passages and grammar. The comprehension section will assess the understanding of the student in the passage given, its central theme and meanings of the words used therein, etc. The grammar section will focus on correction of incorrect grammatical sentences, filling of blanks in the given sentences with appropriate words, etc.
General knowledge and currents affairs – Students will be assessed on their general awareness including static general knowledge and also on current affairs.
Mathematics – Students knowledge on elementary mathematics, i.e. mathematics taught up to Class X will be tested.
Legal aptitude – The most important section, Legal Aptitude will assess the student’s knowledge of law, research aptitude and problem-solving ability. Students should expect questions on legal propositions/ principles and a set of facts to which the said proposition/ principle has to be applied to arrive at a most reasonable conclusion. Such propositions may or may not be ‘true’ in the real sense, yet the CLAT 2015 candidates will have to assume that the given propositions are true and answer the questions accordingly.
Logical reasoning – This section will test the student’s ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. It will include a wide variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc. Note - visual reasoning will not be tested.
In case there is a tie between two candidates taking the CLAT 2015 for LLB, the tie will be broken by the following procedure and order:
