The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) might be conducted online from next year. The Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University (RMNLNU), which is responsible for organizing the exam for the academic session 2015, is considering making CLAT a paperless affair.
The University has proposed to go completely online – right from the application process to the counseling stage.
According to RMLNLU vice-chancellor Gurdip Singh, making CLAT a paperless test means going global and embracing technological advances.
The University has seen presentations from agencies like Prometric and TCS for conducting the online exam. They are yet to hear from Pearson.
It may be noted that Prometric has been holding online entrance exam for admission to Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) while TCS had been roped in to conduct online entrance test for Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
The final proposal will be sent to the CLAT committee in the end of September or the first week of October. The final decision will depend on the committee’s verdict.
Every year, about 4000 candidates take the exam for admission to prominent law universities in India.
Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) organized CLAT 2014 and it took place on May 11.
