The computer-based examination will be held for a number of courses like:
(Group A)- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing), Allied Medical Sciences Degree (AHS Degree)
(Group B)- Diploma Nursing, AHS Diploma/ PG Diploma, AHS Fellowships, Master of Science Courses (MSc Courses)
The examination for programmes like Doctorate of Medicine (DM)/ Master of Chirurgical (MCh) and Post Doctoral Fellowships will be conducted on the same day.
Paper Pattern
Group A
• The entrance test for Group A degree courses will comprise of 180 multiple- choice questions 60 each of Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The time allotted to this section would be 120 minutes.
• This will be followed by 120 questions in General Ability including speed and accuracy. A few questions pertaining to issues of current topical interest will also be included.
• The 120 questions in General Ability will be in two sections. Section 1 will have 60 questions to be answered in 50 minutes and Section 2 will have 60 questions to be answered in 20 minutes.
• The duration of the exam will be 3 hours and 10 minutes.
Group B
• Group B will have 25 questions each in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and 15 questions in General Ability.
• The duration will be 90 minutes.
Other Courses
• Courses which don’t require a science background will have to go through a 90 minutes paper. They will be arbitrated on a General Paper (Non Science) consisting of multiple choice questions of topic ranging from basic science, English, general knowledge, current awareness and general ability.
Exam Centres
The examination will be conducted in 19 centres, 18 out of which are in India and one is in Malaysia. The list of centres include Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Calicut, Chennai, Delhi, Ernakulam, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kottayam, Lucknow, Madras, Kottayam, Lucknow, Madurai, Mumbai, Puducherry, Salem, Thiruvananthapuram, Vellore, Vijayawada and Penang (Malaysia).
