Aptech Limited, a leading global retail and corporate training company, held the National Rounds for WorldSkills Competition, an initiative of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), in Web Design category in Mumbai on the 11th and 12th of December, 2014. Through this initiative, Aptech got the opportunity to reach out to students across the nation and identify talented young minds though regional and national selection in Web Design category. The national winners of the competition in the web design category were Chirag Goel from PES Institute of Technology, Bangalore, Saurabh Gupta from Aptech Chembur and Chahal Tanvir from Aptech Jagraon. Aptech will provide advanced training and mentoring to these winners to further polish their web designing skills, after which, one student will be selected to represent India in Sao Paolo, Brazil, for the next edition of the competition in August 2015.

WorldSkills is the largest skill competition in the world, organised once every two years in one of the member countries. More than 1000 contestants below the age of 23, compete for gold, silver and bronze medals, in over 46 skills. The competition is held over a span of four days. WorldSkills India is an initiative of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) which has been leading India’s participation at WorldSkills International competitions since 2011.

Interested participants from all across India submitted their web project using Designing, HTML5, CSS3, Java script, PHP, MySQL . Shortlisted candidates underwent regional competition where they worked on live projects. For North and East regions, the competition centre was Delhi, in the South, it was held at Bangalore and for the Western region, the competition was held at Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
