There’s a sigh of relief in the job market for one of the most sought after careers; engineering. In the past few years the blow of the low pay scale had hit this career profile too. However, the career pundits have some good words to say in the favor of the candidates with B.tech, B.E. as qualification. Though, the news has been travelling only for the cream candidates, one can hope the good luck to trickle down for the rest of the engineering grads too.

The top non-IIT colleges celebrate this placement season as top companies such as Google welcome their fresh graduates on board with high salaries. The trend has seen a comeback in the offering of a salary as high as Rs. 1.44 crore to some of the BITS- Pilani students who have got through the vacancies abroad.

T big shots such as Google and Microsoft, which were offering 60 to 70 lakhs approximately, till last year, have moved close to 80 lakhs for their international vacancies.

There has been a close to 25 per cent hike, as compared to the previous year, in the pay packages offered by some of the other known recruiters such as Amazon, Flipkart and eBay etc. Other big recruiters such as Epic Systems and Goldman Sachs are also in line with the ones increasing their pay packages for the new recruits from the campuses.

The changing trend in the job market has also seen a rise in the hiring from the engineering sector and not just their pay packages which is definitely good news for the graduates with an engineering background. There has been an almost 35 to 40 percent hike in the number of recruiters.

The growth in both hiring and the salary packages in the non- IITs has shown a good sign for the upcoming placement season in the IITs as well. This could be a great relief for the batches to be up next for the placements in December this year.
