Founded in 1999, the College of Engineering, Kuttanad, is one of the leading government engineering colleges in Kerala and affiliated to the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). It aims at imparting quality education in the field of engineering and computer applications. The college offers 4-year, 8-semester, full-time B Tech courses in Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, and Mechanical Engineering.
For admission to undergraduate programs, a candidate should have secured a minimum of 50 percent marks in Mathematics and 50 percent marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together in the grade 12 examination of the State of Kerala or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto.

The college offers full-time M Tech courses in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Health, Safety and Environment Management, and Computer Science and Engineering. Candidates who are seeking admission to full-time M Tech courses are required to have a B Tech/BE/BSc degree in the relevant branch from any university in Kerala or an examination of any other university/institution accepted by CUSAT as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 60 percent marks. An aspirant should have a valid GATE score or else, he or she will be considered for admission on the basis of Department Admission Test.

The College of Engineering, Trivandrum, was established before independence, in 1939. It became the first engineering college in the then Travancore state.

Founded in 1958, Thangal Kunju Musaliar (TKM) College of Engineering, Kollam, is the first government-aided engineering institution in Kerala. The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Computer Science and Engineering. All the courses offered by RIT are affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
Admission to undergraduate courses is purely based on the basis of merit or rank obtained in the Engineering Entrance Examination conducted by the Government of Kerala. For admission in postgraduate engineering courses, a candidate is required to have a valid GATE score.
The college offers computing, conveyance, library and hostel facilities. It has two hostels for girls and one for boys with an intake of 280 and 107, respectively. Also, the college has a canteen, auditorium, and conference and seminar halls.
