Centre for Social Work of the Panjab University (PU) launched a ‘Hand Washing Campaign’ under the widely acclaimed Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan. It was headed by Mr. Gaurav Gaur who is the Punjab University Co-ordinator of the mission. The campaign was carried out at locations like Khuda Lahora- a village adopted by PU and other colleges in the north and south campus of the university.

The main aim of this campaign was to help benefit migrant workers and their families. The students of the Social Work Department interacted with more than 350 people during the course of this drive. Most of the listeners were ladies and children. Children were involved in this session in a playful manner. A variety of demonstration techniques were used and shown to the audience for better understanding.

In this effort, a group of five students targeted 60 women at a village named Khuda Lahora in Dharamshala. They met the sarpanch of the village –Mr. Rakesh Sharma, anganwadi works, doctors and para- medical staff of the health centre of the village and informed them about the activities under the campaign.
