With an objective of creating awareness for a clean and green environment on the 46th anniversary of the Earth Day, The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) began its seven-day campaign “Save Mother Earth”.

Motivating people to give back to the environment, CS Mamta Binani, President, ICSI expressed her thoughts and concerns through her message to corporates, ICSI students and CS Members across India. She said, “Earth Day challenges us to take seriously our role as caretakers of our natural environment. It inspires us to think of more than just our own sustenance – to act on behalf of this planet that we share with all its inhabitants. We should all partake in this initiative towards doing our bit towards environmental protection”. She further urged, “Everybody needs to step forward to do their part in making wise choices on the use of our day to day natural resources like water, effectively recycle products which can be recycled and use them and to protect the animals and plants that contribute largely to our natural habitat. So today, on Earth Day, let’s all take a pledge to plant a sapling and nurture it”.

ICSI became a part of an initiative where over a billion people in over 193 nations conducted plantation drives and awareness programmes for recycling and conservation. Moreover, around 4 lakh students and 44000 Members of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India significantly contributed towards spreading awareness on environment conservation by planting and nurturing saplings in their surroundings and office premises.

To continue to inspire and motivate people towards the environment, The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is also organising a weeklong awareness drive on Environment Conservation through its campaign “ICSI Pledges to save Mother Earth” at its regional offices in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai as well as 69 chapters across India.
