“SERENDIPITY 2015” was a display of innovative designs from the fashion, interior & jewellery department, shown in the context of the lifestyle exhibition by international institute of fashion technology (IIFT), North Delhi campus. The exhibition held at Dilli Haat, Janakpuri highlighted the best of visionary clothing, furniture & jewellery produced by designers who are all set to make a mark in the contemporary design industry. The display highlighted the importance of innovation in present day’s global fashion & interior industry.

The exhibition was organized based on three themes:

ESCAPADE

The theme was based on the principle - “the one way to get most out of life is to convert it into an adventure”. 

Each and every fashion garment was inspired from any one sport - be it mountaineering, rock climbing, cycling etc. Specialised dresses were all about preserving the key elements of a particular sport as well as turning the wearer into a style icon.

MAGICAL RECLAIM

Magical reclaim charts how designs move to more sculpted models, based on the concept of reuse & recycle. Student designers exploited the growing trend and awareness for saving the environment. The innovative use of safety pins, waste bangles, old ribbons & even washroom loofahs were used to convert the garments into masterpieces. Used PVC pipes, old cycle chains and gears were the inspiration behind designing various furniture pieces.

CONVERTIBLE

“If you are not willing to convert the ordinary to unusual, then you’ll settle for the ordinary……..” was the motto behind designing this range. The fashion collection inspired from convertible gave the wearer an option to wear the same outfit in more than 4 ways. The furniture range also followed the same model and came under the category of multipurpose furniture.
