The candidates are shortlisted for M. Tech courses based on their GATE scores, as well as a written test and interview. All departments of IIT Bhubaneswar set a GATE score Cut-off every year. Candidates meeting this Cut-off are only considered for IIT Bhubaneswar M. Tech admission. The Cut-off is declared separately for students from all categories. During the selection process, 70% weightage is given to GATE scores while 30% weightage is provided to the written test and interview performance of candidates. Out of this 30% weightage, 15% weightage is given to the written test and 15% to the interview.
Further, it is noteworthy that candidates from unreserved category will only be eligible for the interview when they have scored a minimum of 40% of maximum marks in the written test. They will further be eligible for final selection if they score a minimum of 50% of maximum marks in the interview. For reserved category students, the institute decides the test and interview Cut-offs per its norms. The selection procedure for sponsored candidates with valid GATE scores remains the same as for unreserved category students. However, there are other specific requirements if sponsored candidates do not have a valid GATE score.
