The LNM Institute of Information Technology (The LNMIIT) conferred degrees to its 9^th Batch of Engineering Graduates on September 13, 2015. The occasion was graced by Mr. Soumitra Bhattacharya, Joint Managing Director, BOSCH Ltd., India as Chief Guest. Mr. Narayanan Vaghul, Chairman, Governing Council, The LNMIIT presided over the ceremony. Prof. S.S. Gokhale, Director, The LNMIIT, awarded degrees to a batch of 272 students which included 242 B.Tech.,  4 M.S., 25 M.Tech. and 1 Ph.D. student.  

Besides the degrees, medals were given to meritorious students. The Chairman’s gold medal was awarded to Ms Aditi Agrawal while the Director’s gold medal was given to Ms Purnima Dutt and the Director’s Gold Medal in M.Tech was awarded to Shivangi Dubey. The medal for the best B.Tech. project was won by Mr Sarthak Jain and Pranjal Successena.

While addressing the gathering, Mr. Narayanan Vaghul, said that it was wonderful to be among so many bright minds of tomorrow and wished the students all the very best for their future.

Mr. Soumitra Bhattacharya, in his speech, spoke about his experiences in the industry after working in Bosch for nearly 20 years and offered inspiring insights from his own life. Giving a brief introduction of the company, her spoke about its history and how it came into being. He followed it up by summarizing the qualities that Bosch or any successful company looks for in their employees thus explaining the students the need to imbibe those qualities. Mr. Bhattacharya very specifically stressed on the need to incorporate a “process oriented system culture” in our lives which would help us achieve managerial ability of a global level. He also gave a short presentation in which he spoke about the education system in our country and the need to balance the right brain(creativity) with the left brain(analytical thinking), citing the example of the movie 3 Idiots. He offered unique insights from his life stressing the need to imbibe qualities of perseverance, grit, determination and the ability to take critical feedback. He concluded his speech with best wishes to all the graduating students and urged them to be the change in our country and go boldly wherever their heart may desire.

The Annual Report was presented by Prof. S.S Gokhale. In the report he spoke about the growth of the institute and the various achievements of the students in academics and other avenues as well. He went on to give a brief discourse on the various tie-ups that the institute has set up with companies such as Microsoft, IBM, HCl, etc. This was followed up by the steps the institute has taken to realize the dream of becoming a smart campus concluding his report by giving best wishes to all the students and beseeching them to be responsible professionals in their lives and careers.
