The event started with the inaugural function on February 19, 2015 by social activist and writer Harsh Mander. This year candles were lit in memory of the journalists who died fighting for the cause they believed in. By doing this they showed solidarity for free speech and expression, and remembering the departed souls for their immense contribution towards the field of journalism.
