About the Exam: NCHMCT-JEE 2012

The JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) is conducted by the NCHMCT (National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology) for admission to its course “B.Sc in Hospitality & Hotel Administration” that is offered jointly with IGNOU. It is a 3 year programme that equips students with all the required skills, knowledge and attitude to efficiently discharge supervisory responsibilities in the hospitality sector. Admission to first year of this programme is strictly based on the all India rank earned by the candidate in JEE.

NCHMCT-JEE 2012 is on 28th April 2012.

There are 33 Institutes of Hotel Management (IHMs) and State Institutes of Hotel Management (SIHMs) which accept JEE scores. Apart from these, there are around 19 affiliated private institutes of Hotel Management which accept JEE scores.

Eligibility Criteria for NCHMCT-JEE 2012

The following are the various eligibility criteria for NCHMCT-JEE 2012:

A pass in 10+2 system of Senior Secondary examination or its equivalent with English as one of the subjects. Candidate must have passed English as a subject of study (core/elective/functional) in the qualifying examination.

Those appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination can also appear in JEE 2012 on provisional basis. Provisional admission will stand cancelled if proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) is not submitted at the time of counselling or at the time of admission or latest by 30-09-2012.

The offer of admission is subject to verification of original certificates/documents at the time of admission. If any candidate is found ineligible at a later date even after admission to an Institute, his/her admission will stand cancelled.

JEE 2012 Exam Pattern

The entrance exam to get admission to the course "B.Sc Hospitality & Hotel Administration" will last for 3 hours and will test you in 5 sections:

• Numerical Ability and Scientific Aptitude (30 questions)
• Reasoning and Logical Deduction (30 questions)
• General Knowledge & Current Affairs (30 questions)
• English Language (60 questions)
• Aptitude for Service Sector (50 questions)

The paper is set in both Hindi & English (except for the English language section).

For each question the candidate will be awarded 1 mark for every correct answer. In case he/she has not darkened any bubble or has darkened more than one bubble, he/she will be awarded 0 mark for that question. There will be negative marking of 0.25 mark for every wrong answer. There will be no negative marking in the “Aptitude for Service Sector” section. However, each question in this section carries marks of 0.25; 0.50; 0.75 and 1.00. The most appropriate answer will be awarded 1 mark.
