Those of you who want to take admission in any of the top NIT colleges in India and pursue a rewarding career might surely know that National Institutes of Technology (NITs), like IIMs and IITs, is a group of premier public engineering colleges funded by the Indian government. After IITs, NITs are the best institutes of engineering in India. These institutes are known for offering quality education; advanced infrastructure and providing a congenial environment for the overall development of students. Although all the NITs are reputable institutions for engineering courses in India, yet NIT ranking is also done based on various parameters. To cater to the inquisitive minds, we have here compiled the list of NITs rank wise for those who are interested in knowing which ones are among the top five.

NIT Tiruchirappalli

Year Of Establishment: 1964

When we talk about NIT ranking in India, NIT Tiruchirappalli, or simply NIT Trichy, tops the list. Situated on the banks of river Cauvery and in an area that is considered the heart of Tamil Nadu, NIT Trichy enjoys autonomy in the matters concerning to finance and administration. Granted the status of Deemed University, approved by UGC/AICTE and the Government of India, the institute offers 10 courses at the undergraduate level (B.Tech and B.Arch), 23 programmes at PG level (including MCA and MBA), M.S. (by research) and Ph.D programmes.

NIT Surathkal, Karnataka

Year of Establishment: 1960

National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) is known to deliver quality education and has an excellent infrastructure that enables it to find a leading position in NIT ranking list in India. The institute was formally known as Karnataka Regional Engineering College and is now a public engineering university based at Surathkal. NITK is recognised as an institute of national importance and is one the 31 National Institute of Technology in India. In 1965, the NIT initially started with three undergraduate courses in Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering, while its first postgraduate course in 1966 in Marine and Industrial structure.
